I grew up in North Texas and now reside in the creative city of Austin, Texas. I began my passion for art at a very young age. My mother and grandmother were both artistic and inspired me to become a painter. Growing up, I was surrounded by art and music and feel that greatly contributed to my interest in fine art. I remember drawing for hours and hours as a young child and had a wild imagination as most children do. At 7 years old, I won a local art contest and was featured in our home town newspaper. I had never been more excited and it was through that experience that I realized I had an exceptional gift.
In junior high school, I was blessed to have studied under the artistic talent of Barbara Hughes, a Southwest Watercolor Society artist, known for her brilliant color and highly detailed floral paintings. She saw my passion and creative aptitude for art and took me under her wing, teaching me the value of high quality art and giving me the solid foundation I needed to be a great artist. She is one of my favorite mentors and set a fire in my spirit that ultimately drove my passion to become a professional artist.
For the next ten years my medium of choice was watercolor, and I focused on realism. One day an art instructor suggested that I try an abstract painting to expand my horizons and tap into a new area of art I had not yet explored. I loved it. I felt I could be more free and expressive and really began to flourish and expand my talents with composition, color and texture. I was deeply interested in the effects of color and the emotional energy it could add to a space.
I have developed my very own unique mix of contemporary art. My inspirations are captured through earthy textures and rich layers of color. I'm a creative innovator, and I'm always looking for new tools and techniques to paint with. I aspire to be the best I can be and enjoy inspiring others with my art. It has been an incredible journey so far and I learn more and more every time I complete a new piece.
