"One of the things that art does at its best is to let us see the familiar as new and the ordinary as extraordinary. This is why I like simple scenes painted well enough to awaken people to the beauty and wonder of our contemporary world. Inspiration is found in ordinary places, my style is immediate and "painterly", with strong design and lively color."
An artist since she could hold a crayon, Robin pursued a career in graphic arts and web design while developing her painting skills in evening classes and self study. A chance meeting with a gallery owner encouraged her to leave the design world for oil painting full time. She spent many years painting the landscape "en plein air" until her daughter was born and she refocused on more intimate subjects, most featuring people. Favorite subjects include beach scenes, cafes and restaurants, bookstores, and quiet interiors. Her paintings are best described as narrative, capturing a moment in time and creating for the viewer a sense of having just looked in a window, waiting for a figure to pass back in or out of the frame.
Robin is a member of the Society of Master Impressionists, the American Impressionist Society and a founding member of Plein Air Austin. She graduated in 1991 from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies/Graphic Design. Born: Euclid, Ohio, 1969.
